Where We Have Come From

25 people began the Lehigh Acres Chapel as a mission church in Lehigh Acres in 1960.  In 1964, the mission became First Baptist Church of Lehigh Acres with 125 members.  The church has grown and became a place where people have found a relationship with God and His people.

Where We Are Now

The last few years have seen phenomenal growth.  With such growth, the church purchased and renovated an existing, larger facility in the spring of 2010.  We are now meeting in 2 English Sunday worship services and 1 in Spanish with approximately 750 on campus each Sunday.  In order to fulfill our mission as a church we are looking to launch new congregations in South West Florida and around the world as God leads.

Where We Are Going

With God’s leadership and provision, we continue to look for opportunities that will help us toward our goal of reaching every man, woman, and child in Lee County for Jesus Christ.  With that in mind, we will continue to cooperate with other congregations to accomplish this task.

OUR AFFILIATION

The Royal Palm Southern Baptist Association

98 churches and missions that fellowship together with a total membership of over 27,000 people.

The Florida Baptist Convention

2,907 churches and missions with the goal of evangelizing our state.  Our total state membership is over 1,016,726 people.

The Southern Baptist Convention

42,000+ churches with 16 million members that cooperate together in a world-wide effort of missions of over 10,000 missionaries in 153 countries.

What is the Southern Baptist Convention?

It is the largest association of Christian churches in America. One out of every 10 churches in America is affiliated with the SBC.  (42,000+ churches and more than 16 million members - more than most other denominations combined)

It is the most diverse association of churches.

SBC churches include every race, nationality, and ethnic group.  Each Sunday, services are held in over 80 languages in the U.S.

It is the one of the fastest growing groups.

The SBC baptizes over 1,000 new Christians a day in the U.S. and begins nearly 5 new churches a day!

Why not just be an independent church?

We are an independent church!  Every SBC church is completely independent.  There is no denominational control or hierarchy, as there is in most other denominations  Each church is self-governed and determines its own affairs.  For example:

  • Every SBC church chooses its own pastor.
  • Every SBC church owns its own buildings and assets.
  • Every SBC church determines its own programs.

What are the advantages of affiliating with the SBC?

1.  It allows us to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their commitment to the Bible.  Unlike other groups, the SBC has no man-made “creed”.  The Bible is our only authority.

2.  It allows our church to participate in the largest missionary organization in the world.  Through the SBC “Cooperative Program” we help support over 10,000 missionaries in 130 countries around the world.
